We asked three important questions: What are the big- gest benefits to joining a chapter? What are the biggest challenges your chapter fac- es? What can WAI do to help your chapter? Of the more than 600 chapter leaders polled, the responses to these questions had a common ring. The group agreed that the biggest benefits to joining a chapter are: • networking and peer interaction, • comradery, friendship, and support, • inspire and give back, • events, activities, and education, • scholarships and WAI conference-related benefits. The chapter leaders also agreed that, in large part, they face the same challenges around the world: • growing and retaining membership, • membership participation and attendance, • fundraising, • leadership and continuity, • ideas for activities. Finally, input from these questions helped guide the answer to the question, "What can WAI do to help your chapter?" Generally, the group said: • help us find new members and encourage participation in chapter events and with outreach support, • help us with fundraising, • help us with events, and help us get our members to conference, • simplify administration, • provide leadership tools and education. Taking all this input will help us guide and focus staff activity, marketing efforts, properly allocate resources, and assign priorities that are in line with chapter needs and impact—and it's already started! By the time you have this magazine in your hands, chapters all across the world will have received a new Chapter Kit that will provide chapters with the details of our global outreach program, and Girls in Aviation Day (September 23, 2017). We also will schedule a series of Facebook Live events and webinars aimed at bringing more tools to chapter leaders and members. WAI members worldwide will be seeing more eblasts with chapter events near you, and with news of chapters starting up and refocusing. You'll notice more chap- ter news and additional content on international chapters in Aviation for Women and in the WAI Connect e-newsletter. You'll also find more and better tools at your disposal on www.WAI.org in the Chapter Resources area at www.WAI.org/chapters/resources. Check this area regu- larly for additional resources and to access the tools you've come to rely on, like the Chapter Handbook, the Annual Report paperwork, Certificate of Insurance request forms, helpful presentations, and all your Girls in Aviation Day resources. Finally, watch the magazine and monthly e-newsletter for more resources, tips, and benefits for chapter members, chapter leaders, and all WAI members! It's time; go get involved in your local chapter, and if you don't have one, start one yourself.
