BLUEGRASS CHAPTER
The Bluegrass Chapter had an amazing
number of members (16!) attend the
WAI conference in Florida. Everyone
had a lot of fun and learned a ton. We
are very proud of chapter member Ma-
rissa Colclasure , who received the King
School scholarship to obtain her sea-
plane rating.
We went r i g ht home f rom F lor i-
da to get ready for our first education-
al event. We teamed up with the Ken-
tucky Ninety-Nines Bluegrass Chapter
for its annual Girl Scouts Aviation Day.
There were more than 300 girls who
participated in the three-hour event
where we taught the girls how to get
their private pilot certificate, identify
basic flight control surfaces, and try
out their skills in a simulator. We were
all surprised with how well participants
were able to fly the simulator! The event
offered eight different stations that the
girls rotated through listening to presen-
tations that covered many different as-
pects of aviation. ✈
