InternaƟonal Women in AviaƟon Conference
Connect. Engage. Inspire.
At the conference,
a special celebraƟon
was planned for
Dawn Seymour's 100th
birthday.
Maybe the attendees of the #WAI17 conference felt the magic
because the venue was near the Magic Kingdom at Disney's
Coronado Springs Resort? Or more than likely, it was because
it's the traditional enthusiasm felt during nearly three decades
of women in aviation conferences that is the trademark of this
three-day, action-packed event.
This year, 4,500 attendees from 19 countries gathered in
Lake Buena Vista, Florida, from March 2-4, 2017, represent-
ing every age group from WASP Dawn Seymour (marking
her 100th birthday), and more than 200 young people (from
ages 8 on up) during Girls in Aviation Day Orlando.
A packed exhibit hall showcased a variety of technology,
services, and products for every segment of aviation. Net-
working opportunities occurred in meeting rooms and ses-
sions throughout the resort, with résumé reviews, financial
advice, and on-site job interview opportunities highlighting
every day.
Nearly 50 education sessions covered topics such as avia-
tion careers, general aviation and safety, history, leadership,
maintenance, military, and personal development. A number
of professional development seminars were also held for those
starting their career path or looking to make a transition.
