M A R C H / A P R I L 2 0 1 6 Aviation forWomen 9 LAST FRONTIER CHAPTER STARS OF THE NORTH CHAPTER NIGERIA CHAPTER STARS OF THE NORTH CHAPTER The M i n neapol is-a rea Sta rs of t he North Chapter and Minnesota State University Northern Lights Chapter teamed up for a tremendously success- ful outreach event at Feed My Starving Children in January. ✈ NIGERIA CHAPTER The WAI Nigeria Chapter held a conference in November for all women in Lagos and other states. The conference included a tour of the Murtala Mohammed Airport facilities, seminars, workshops, and guest speakers. Awards were also presented for outstanding female aviation mechanic, outstanding female airport managers, outstanding female airline mangers, and out- standing female aviation CEO, and Apple iPads were awarded to our mentees who performed exceptionally well during Girls in Aviation Day. ✈ LAST FRONTIER CHAPTER Anchorage, Alaska's Last Frontier Chapter teamed up w it h t he A laska Gi rl Scouts, PenAir, and several other sponsors in Novem- ber 2015 to put on an excit- ing introduction to aviation event for young girls at the PenAir hangar at Anchor- age International Airport. Nearly 100 Girl Scouts from Anchorage and the surrounding area came to learn about careers in aviation, airplanes, and a variety of opportunities available to them. There were several stations, including meteorology, aerodynamics, aviation careers, a static airplane display, and a simulator to try a takeoff and climbout. ✈ Jennifer Paniati coaches a Girl Scout through her frst takeoff in a Cessna 172.
