After the tragic death of Constable Rick Sonnenberg in October 1993 during his line of duty in Calgary, the community memorialized him by raising funds to purchase a helicopter, and HAWCS was born. Though operated by the Calgary Police Service, the pilots for HAWCS are civilian. One of the special moments of the tour was meet- ing their female helicopter pilot. ✈ LAST FRONTIER CHAPTER The WAI Last FronƟer Chapter held a Halloween hangar party at Lake Hood Seaplane base, the busiest seaplane base in the world. The party served as an outreach, mem- bership, and fundraising event as members from the com- munity stopped in for a drink, the live band, and general atmosphere. Also, congratulaƟons to Rebecca Moran for her new job as 747 pilot with Atlas Air! ✈ LeŌ to right: Membership Chair Kate Jaronitzky, a door prize winner, and Rebecca Moran, chief fundraiser extraordinaire.
