These elite bands of women have not only a love of aviaƟon, but also put their lives on the line in defense of their country through their military service. WMA is commiƩed to passing this legacy from one genera- Ɵon of women to another and has established an an- nual scholarship program in support of this commit- ment. AdvocaƟng the love of aviaƟon, WMA offers an annual scholarship to advance a woman in her pursuit of flight raƟngs at an accredited insƟtuƟon or FAA Part 141-approved flight school. Recipient will also be given a one-year membership to WMA. Over the past 30 years this scholarship has been given to select candidates so that they may pursue opportu- niƟes in aviaƟon. Each applicant should supply, in addition to the basic WAI application requirements, a narrative ad- dressing demonstrated persistence and determina- tion to fly and stated ability to complete training at an accredited institution or FAA Part 141-approved flight school within one year of scholarship award. Also, identify the school, college, university, and/or Part 141-approved school where training will be com- pleted, and address the program and/or raƟngs being sought. The applicant should address interest and/or parƟcipaƟon in military aviaƟon, and financial need. (Scholarship value $2,500) G e n e r a l S c h o l a r s h i p s Aero Femme Scholarship Aero Femme is a nonprofit organizaƟon and schol- arship fund that provides aviaƟon scholarships. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to an individual pursuing any type of aviaƟon interest. Our mission is to encourage and educate women of all ages to be involved in all types of aviaƟon. Aero Femme conƟn- ues to educate women of all ages about all aspects of aviaƟon with their youth and adult outreach pro- grams across the naƟon. The requirements for this scholarship include meeƟng all WAI scholarship re- quirements, and you must be a U.S. ciƟzen or per- manent resident. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. If the applicant is sƟll in high school, cu- mulative GPA must be above 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale). Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the win- ner's educational institution school of choice and must be used within a year. (Scholarship value $500) Airbus Leadership Grant One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a stu- dent at the college level of sophomore year or above who is pursuing a degree in an aviaƟon-related field, who has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), and who exhibits leadership potenƟal. In ad- dition to WAI requirements, all applicants should submit a 500-word essay that addresses their ca- reer aspiraƟons and clear, concise examples of how they have exhibited leadership in their academic/ work/personal life. (Scholarship value $5,000) American Airlines Veteran's Initiative Scholarship In honor of their service to our country, American Airlines will award one $5,000 scholarship to a mil- itary veteran, or current service member, who is pursing aviation/aeronautical education or train- ing. This award will be paid directly to the accred- ited flight school, insƟtuƟon, or college. Candidates will be evaluated on achievements, teamwork, lead- ership skills, moƟvaƟon, and community service in- volvement. Please submit applicaƟon according to WAI scholarship guidelines. Finalists will be inter- viewed at WAI conference unless on deployment. In addiƟon to WAI requirements, applicant must have honorably served in the United States armed services and provide proof such as a DD Form 214 or current military ID. Include the name and address for the accredited institution, flight, or training center used. Applicants must be available for interview at the WAI conference or phone interview if deployed. American Airlines has a long history of supporƟng our naƟon's veterans, those currently serving in the military, and their families. With many of our em- ployees having served in the military, the company places a strong emphasis on its military and veter- an's initiatives. In addition, American Airlines pro- vides monetary and travel assistance to numerous military nonprofit organizaƟons and provides travel on a compassionate basis through our ongoing part- nerships with the Gary Sinise Foundation, the Air- power Foundation, and Fisher House. We're hon- ored to serve those who serve our nation. It's the very least we could do. (Scholarship value $5,000, estimated total value $7,000) Beyond and Above Corporate Flight Attendant Training You must be an U.S. ciƟzen or have a current visa to the U.S. to apply. Training will take place at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lodging and travel expenses are not includ- ed. This is for applicants looking to become corpo- rate flight aƩendants only. Our training is in compli- ance with rules and regulaƟons of the FAA Part 91, 125, and 135 and is accepted worldwide. Scholar- ship must be used within a year of the award. (Scholarship value $3,500) The Boeing Company Career Enhancement Scholarship The Boeing Company will award a scholarship to a woman who wishes to advance her career in the aerospace industry in the fields of engineering, tech- nology development, or management. The award is to be used for educational purposes only and may not be applied toward flight hours. Applicants may Chuck Yeager Foundation WAI Scholarship In 2005 the Chuck Yeager FoundaƟon established a schol- arship to assist those who may not otherwise be able to become involved in aviaƟon. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving WAI member who has applied for other WAI scholarships and who has unique circum- stances that impede his or her ability to advance their aviaƟon plans. The recipient of this scholarship will be selected from the applicaƟons submiƩed for other scholarships. SelecƟon will be based on informaƟon submiƩed in the scholarship applicaƟon.
