This course allows you to complete the majority of the coursework online over a four-month period. Once you complete the online requirements and pass the FAA knowledge test, you will spend eight days at our training facility in Houston, Texas, to complete the prac- tical portion of your training. Your FAA practical test will be scheduled following the successful completion of the eight- day classroom session. Please plan on being in Houston a few extra days to complete the practical test. There are no experience-based prerequisites for taking this course. Participants must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, have a high school diploma or GED, and have a government-issued identification show- ing they are at least 23 years old. The course is eight days in length and includes the ATP test as well. The course can be taken at either our Orlando or Las Vegas Training Centers. The scholarship would include all course fees. The recipient would be responsible for transportation to and from the training city, room and board. Scholarship includes four days/30 hours of academ- ic training, three days/10 hours of simulator training, four hours of level 4 FSTD, six hours of full motion flight simula- tor time, and ATP test. The award will be used to fund flight training hours toward a private, instrument, or commercial rating. The winner will also receive a trip to the 2017 International Women in Avi- ation Conference (including round-trip airfare, conference registration fee, and hotel accommodations). Applicants must be legal U.S. citizens and residents of Southern California; pref- erence will be given to those who reside in San Diego County. The recipient will be chosen based on pre- vious accomplishments, a proven ability to set and achieve goals, and a definite plan for a career in aviation. Please submit all WAI scholarship application require- ments. At least one of the two recommendation letters must come from someone involved in your aviation training (CFI, chief pilot, ground school instructor, etc.). In the required 500-word essay, describe how you will use your time at the WAI conference to further your aviation career goals. Final- ly, if the applicant is a student pilot, she must have soloed by the time the application is submitted and a copy of the solo endorsement must be included with the application. ISA will award two $5,000 scholarships to women working to acquire a CFI, CFII, or MEI certificate.
