ISA will award four B-737 or A320 type ratings. The successful candidates will train for eight days with Flight Training International in Miami. Funds will be paid directly to the flight school and training must be completed within one year. One letter of recom- mendation must be from a pilot who has flown with you. Applicants must have an ATP and a minimum of 3,000 hours' total time, which includes at least 500 multiengine turbine and a current first class medical certificate. Candi- dates must include a copy of their current passport. Candi- dates should provide details pertinent to letters of inquiry from the FAA regarding any aircraft incidents or accidents and a list of all FAA checkride failures. Finalists will be in- terviewed at the annual International Women in Aviation Conference. If unable to attend, interviews will be arranged prior to the conference. The recipient is responsible for all travel, housing, and personal expenses during training. Hotel reservation assistance is available. To be eligible for the American Airlines scholarship, an individual must ● Be enrolled in a 4-year U.S. accredited college or university ● Seeking to develop professional avia- tion skills beyond their private & instrument certificates ● Be at least 18 years of age at the date of application ● Have earned at minimum a private and instrument pilot certificate Funds may be used for: Advanced flight training such as multi-engine, commercial, instructor, or ATP / tuition and fees, within a flight education program at an accredited college or university. Funds are not applicable toward a sport, recreational or pri- vate pilot certificate. The 19-day training program will be held at a facility located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Funds will be paid directly to the flight school, and training must be completed within one year from the date of award. Minimum qualifications include the following: commercial, instru- ment, and multiengine certificates; a minimum of 1,500 hours' total flight time; must have passed a FAA ATP written within the last two years; and must hold a current first-class FAA medical certificate. In addition to the B737 Next Gen type rating scholarship, Ameri- can Airlines will host the recipient with attendance to the 2017 an- nual International Women in Aviation Conference (including hotel, conference registration, air travel, and a daily allowance). In addition to the WAI scholarship application requirements, candidates must address the following questions within their 500- word essay: ● How would this scholarship help you achieve your career goals? ● Why did you apply for this scholarship? ● What aviation activities/organizations have you been involved in? Previous type rating scholarship winners are not eligible. (Scholarship value $28,000 each)
