Dear WAI members: This month is a particu- larly exciting one as a ma- jority of WAI chapters are hosting another Girls in Aviation Day in their local community. These annual days of outreach are an im- portant way to help inspire young girls to dream big— whether it is about aviation as a career, or as a reward- ing hobby. By meeting WAI members in their local area who are pilots, mechan- ics, controllers, and more, they will consider their own goals more attainable. If you would like to partici- pate and are not already a member of a local WAI chapter, visit www.WAI.org/GIAD for details of events in your area. We recently completed a survey of our members specifi- cally focused on membership benefits. One of the more inter- esting comments we saw was, "I had no idea WAI offered all of these benefits!" Obviously, many of you are familiar with our bimonthly magazine Aviation for Women, and many of you are chapter members taking advantage of this member benefit as well. We also offer a monthly e-newsletter to keep you updat- ed on organization news and announcements, and our new website and social media channels are also important ways we communicate. If you have not visited our new website yet, be sure to see all of the enhancements, improved func- tionality, and content. And one of our best-known benefits relates to the annual conference and various regional and local events WAI hosts. As a member of WAI you receive discounts for all of these events. Looking for a way to help fund that next rat- ing or certificate, or per- haps a career enhancement opportunity? Then the WAI scholarship program is of benefit to you. But don't forget to look beyond those things and take advantage of the ca- reer information and re- sources we provide, and the various discount ser- vices available to you as a WAI member. And the website is a great place to find all of these benefits and more. Hopefully this helps you better understand what the WAI staff is doing to assist you, our members. We've made a commitment to better promote the many ben- efits of WAI membership in the coming months so you never have to question the perks available to you as a member of this organization.
