The House of Moses homestead was no free ride, but it was a safe place for Vanah to fnish growing up. "They had rules. You had to show leadership. You had to be willing to go to school, to learn, to follow the rules. Then you could make it," she explained. The structure was good for her. "When the Barneses took me in, I started to open up to them," Vanah said. She told the Barneses about her fascination with airplanes.
