8 Aviation forWomen J U L Y / A U G U S T 2 0 1 6 C H A P T E R S W A I N E W S EDELWEISS CHAPTER The Edelweiss Chapter joined the Swiss Association of Women Pilots to visit the helicopter base of the Rega in Lausanne, Swit- zerland, on April 18. The Rega is the main rescue team in Swit- zerland, with more than 14,000 missions in 2014. Among them, about 10,000 were operated by helicopter. Rega is a nonproft, in- dependent and privately run foundation that relies on the fnan- cial support of its patrons. The visit began with the presentation of the helicopter—an Eurocopter EC 145—followed by a visit to the hangar and a demonstration of the rescue material. ✈ LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY CHAPTER The Louisiana Tech University chapter recently hosted a Girl Scouts event, Girls Fly Too!, at the Monroe Regional Airport (MLU). The girls took a tour of the newly renovated terminal to learn about ticketing and security. Af ter the terminal tour, they joined the frefghters at the ARFF station for a demonstra- tion of the new fre truck. They also took a tour of the aircraft control tower to include how aircraft are tracked and the communication between tower and pilots. Finally, the girls were taught how to read sectionals and the airport directo- ry. The entire event was a success with many of the girls being more interested in aviation. ✈ INDIA CHAPTER The India Chapter hosted its first conference called The Invisible Force—Skill Development for Women in Aviation on April 15 at the Dusit Hotel (D2) in Delhi. The keynote speaker was Minister of State for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy , former minister of aviation and a pilot. He spoke on the impor- tance and need for skill development for women in aviation in India. Two panel discussions were also held, along with a presentation by Dr. Frank Fichert , deputy dean, University of Applied Science in Worms, Germany. ALAMO CITY CHAPTER The Alamo City Chapter attended the inaugural dinner of the San Antonio Aviation and Aerospace Hall of Fame on March 31. The San Antonio Aviation and Aerospace Hall of Fame is the product of collaboration between the Dee Howard Foundation, the Partnership for Corporate Aviation Training, and other local, state, and national partners. ✈ HONG KONG CHAPTER Members participated in the career expo at St. Stephen's Girls' College in Hong Kong on April 23.
