One $500 schol- arship will be awarded to an individual pursuing any type of aviation interest. Our mission is to encourage and edu- cate women of all ages to be involved in all types of avia- tion. Aero Femme continues to educate women of all ages about all aspects of aviation with their youth and adult out- reach programs across the nation. The requirements for this scholarship include meeting all WAI scholarship re- quirements, and you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. (If the ap- plicant is still in high school, cumulative GPA must be above 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale). Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the winner's educational institution school of choice and must be used within a year. (Scholarship value $500) Airbus Leadership Grant One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student at the college level of sophomore year or above who is pursu- ing a degree in an aviation-related feld, who has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), and who exhibits leadership potential. In addition to WAI requirements all applicants should submit a 500-word essay that address- es their career aspirations and clear, concise examples of how they have exhibited leadership in their academic/ work/personal life. (Scholarship value $5,000) American Airlines Veteran's Initiative Scholarship In honor of their service to our country, American Airlines will award one $5,000 scholarship to a military veteran who is pursing aviation/aeronautical educa- tion or training. This award will be paid directly to the accredited flight school, institution, or college. Candidates will be evaluated on achievements, teamwork, leadership skills, motivation, and com- munity service involvement. Please submit application ac- cording to WAI scholarship guidelines. Finalists will be in- terviewed at WAI conference unless on deployment. In addition to WAI requirements applicant must have honorably served in the United States armed services and provide proof such as a DD Form 214 or current military IDF. Include the name and address for the accredited institu- tion, fight, or training center used. American Airlines has a long history of supporting our armed forces and veterans. With more than 60 percent of American's pilots and 10 percent of all American Airlines and Envoy Air employees serving as active military or vet- erans, the company places a strong emphasis on its military and veterans initiatives. American Airlines supports mem- bers of the military, veterans, and their families in their communities, as well as when they travel, including special military airfares. American Airlines provides assistance to numerous nonproft organizations, and our employees en- gage in a wide variety of events and activities in support of our military. (Scholarship value $5,000— estimated total value $7,000) Beyond and Above Corporate Flight Attendant Training You must be an U.S. citizen or have a current visa to the U.S. to apply. Training will take place at the Fort Lauder- dale Executive Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lodg- ing and travel expenses are not included. This is for appli- cants looking to become corporate fight attendants only. Our training is in compliance with rules and regulations of the FAA Part 91, 125 and 135 and is accepted worldwide. Scholarship must be used within a year of the award. (Scholarship value $3,500) The Boeing Company Career Enhancement Scholarship (2) The Boeing Company will award a scholarship to a woman who wishes to advance her career in the aerospace indus- try in the felds of engineering, technology development, or management. The award is to be used for educational purposes only and may not be applied toward fight hours. Applicants may be full-time or part-time employees cur- rently in the aerospace industry or a related field. Also eligible are students pursuing aviation and aerospace- related degrees that are at the sophomore level with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale). (Scholarship value $2,500) Dassault Falcon Jet Scholarship Dassault Falcon Jet is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to support a woman seeking to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree in an aviation-related feld. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, be fuent in English, and have main- tained a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) in her most recent year of schooling. Applicant should submit a one- page essay detailing her current educational status, what she hopes to achieve by pursuing a degree in aviation, and her aspirations in the feld. (Scholarship value $1,000) The Elisha Hall Memorial Scholarship Elisha Hall (Mrs. Mark Bizzaro, WAI 2335) represented her- self as a dedicated and passionate aviation professional. She was a leader and an explorer, and lived life to its full- est. She set both her sights, and her standards, high. To cel- ebrate her life and accomplishments, WAI's The Wright Chapter is offering a $1,500 scholarship to a woman who embodies the qualities that Elisha so splendidly exempli- fed, and is seeking to further her aviation career in one or more of the following areas: fight training (any phase), air- craft scheduling or dispatch, aviation management, avia- tion maintenance, or avionics. Preference given to local candidates within the Cincin- nati, Ohio, and tri-state area, but all applicants will be con- sidered based upon character, need, community involve- The WAI Enthusiasm Award Do you love the mission of WAI and want to help? Has aviation made a big impact on your life in ways that don't ft into the typical categories? Do you think the annual conference is an important event, even for those who aren't students or pilots? Then this is the scholarship for you! WAI loves enthusiasm! And we want enthusiasts to come to the conference. For that reason, WAI will award a full registration to the 2017 annual International Women in Aviation Conference to the member who best ex- plains why attending the conference is important to her or him. It's our way of saying thank you for your enthusiasm. Requirements include being an active member of WAI, the offcial application form, and a 500-word essay.
