Candidates will be evaluated on academic standing, personal accomplishments, teamwork, leader- ship skills, and airmanship. Scholarship recipient will also be guaranteed a first officer inter- view upon attainment of the com- pany's hiring requirements. Applicants must meet all WAI s c h o l a r s h i p r e q u i r e m e n t s a n d guidelines, and must be a commer- cial-rated pilot. In addition to the qualities and information above, your essay must also include why Republic Airways is your employer of choice. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States. (Scholarship value $5,000) Sporty's Foundation Flight Training Scholarship for Small Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2) Sporty's Foundation is offering two recreational or sport pilot flight training scholarships to a small aircraft main- tenance technician. The award money is not intended for use in achieving any other certificate, rating, or endorse- ment. Award money is to be used for flight training costs only. Award recipient must plan to pursue a recreational or sport pilot certifcate within six months of receiving the scholarship. Award money will be sent to recipient's em- ployer or flight school for disbursement and will require two endorsements for deposit. Award recipient will also re- ceive a copy of Sporty's Complete Learn to Fly Flight Train- ing Course. (Scholarship value $5,000 each) Southwest Airlines Flight Training Scholarship (6) With the high costs of fight training and goals of a profes- sional pilot career, Southwest Airlines will help you fnan- cially achieve those goals and earn your fight certifcates. Southwest Airlines is awarding six scholarships of $5,000 each to qualifed candidates who have aspirations of be- coming a professional pilot. Qualified candidates must submit their application per the requirements listed be- low. Scholarship awards will be determined by Southwest Airlines and are not offers of employment, or any guar- antee or promise of employment at Southwest Airlines, which is an equal opportunity employer. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalency re- quired; must be enrolled in an accredited collegiate avia- tion four-year degree program; must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), an FAA private and instrument rating, and current FAA frst class medical certifcate. Please sub- mit a single page essay that reflects how the scholarship will help you reach your professional career goals, and two letters of recommendation—one from a school facul- ty member who works directly with you who can attest to your career aspirations and another from someone who can attest to your fying ability. Also provide an offcial copy of most recent semester transcript, copies of your pilot cer- tifcate and frst class medical, and a list of Women In Avia- tion volunteer functions you have performed. Funds will be paid directly to the school and must be completed within one year. If selected, pilots will use their scholarship to their choice of earning their commercial cer- tifcate, multiengine certifcate, and/ or fight instructor certifcate. (Scholarship value $5,000 each) Ted Mallory Memorial Scholarship A past board member of WAI, Ted Mallory, was dedicated to the orga- nization and to ensuring the avail- ability of scholarships to provide opportunities for individuals inter- ested in learning to fy. The Ted Mal- lory Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a WAI member who is interested in pursuing a private pilot certifcate or instru- ment rating. (Scholarship value $250) Texas America Flight Academy Accelerated Instrument Rating Course This award is a 10-day course that provides the training necessary to obtain an instrument airplane rating. You will learn how to control your aircraft with reference to instru- ments. You will understand instrument approaches, arriv- al and departure procedures, course intercepts, and hold- ing patterns. You will learn in the busy, complex Dallas/Fort Worth Class B airspace, so you'll be ready to fly into any major metropolitan area. Included is DUATS training, iPad use (we love Fore- Flight and Stratus), and even how to turn your cellphone or iPad into an emergency primary fight display (PFD). Ex- pect to follow a professional, proven syllabus and fy with Gold Seal instructors. Expect results. Scholarship covers all fight and ground instruction, training aircraft, Redbird full-motion simulator training, and Gleim instrument train- ing kit. Applicants must hold a private pilot certifcate (ASEL) or higher, have passed the FAA instrument written exam with an 80 or better in the last 12 months, hold a medical certif- cate valid for the duration of the course, and have proof of U.S. citizenship (passport or birth certifcate). Lodging and travel expenses are not included. Scholar- ship must be used within one year of the award.
