Examples of community involvement, leadership opportunities, and vol- unteer work should be included in the essay. (Scholarship value $1,500) Women in Aviation Management Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a woman in an aviation manage- ment feld who has exemplifed the traits of leadership, community spir- it, and volunteerism. The scholar- ship can be used to attend a lead- ership-related course or seminar to raise the individual's level of man- agement or to establish a new aviation-related business. (Scholarship value $1,000) A V I A T I O N M A I N T E N A N C E S C H O L A R S H I P S American Airlines Aircraft Maintenance Technician Scholarship American Airlines will award one $5,000 scholarship to a student currently enrolled in an aviation maintenance tech- nician program (A&P;) or a degree in aviation maintenance technology. Candidates will be evaluat- ed on academic standing, personal ac- complishments, teamwork, leadership skills, and community service involve- ment. Requirements: Meet all WAI scholar- ship requirements and guidelines, GPA must be 3.0 or high- er, enrolled in an accredited U.S. maintenance program, U.S. citizen or permanent resident. American Airlines' maintenance and engineering de- partments are vital to the company's commitment to pro- vide safe, dependable, and friendly air transportation to their customers. As such, the company seeks to attract top maintenance talent that shares its passion and interest in the aviation industry. To complement the scholarship, American Airlines will host the winner with attendance to the 28th annual Interna- tional Women in Aviation Conference in Orlando (includ- ing air travel, hotel, and conference registration). (Scholarship value: $5,000— estimated total value $7,000) ATP General Aviation Maintenance Scholarship For over 40 years, ATP has supported the global general aviation industry with technology and services that pro- mote safety and quality for maintenance operations. As part of our continuing commitment to aviation mainte- nance, ATP will award a $1,000 scholarship to a woman pursuing the airframe and powerplant (A&P;) certificate with a passion to work in general aviation maintenance. Please include a personal statement in your essay describ- ing your interest and ambitions in general aviation. Candidates will be evaluated on academic perfor- mance, personal accomplishments, involvement in the general aviation community, future career aspira- tions, and enthusiasm for general aviation. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equiva- lent. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, books, and fees related to obtaining the A&P; from an AMT school in the United States. Scholar- ship funds will be sent to the recipi- ent's school or employer for disbursement. Funds must be used within one year of receiving the award. (Scholarship value $1,000) Delta Air Lines Aircraft Maintenance Technology Scholarship Delta Air Lines will award a $5,000 scholarship to a student currently enrolled in an aviation maintenance technician program (A&P;) or a degree in aviation maintenance tech- nology. In addition to the $5,000 scholarship, the recipient will receive a trip to the 28th annual International Women in Aviation Conference (includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, and conference fee). Applicant must be a full-time student, with a minimum of two semesters left (as of February 2017), with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or bet- ter (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants must be U.S. citizens or eli- gible non-citizens. In addition to all WAI requirements, please include a detailed essay (500 to 1,000 words), double-spaced, type- written, that addresses the following topics: ➊ Who or what inspired you to pursue a career in aviation maintenance technology? ➋ What is or has been your greatest life challenge, and how has it enriched your and/or someone else's life? ➌ If someone else was to describe your greatest strength, what would it be and why, and what do you con- sider to be your strongest characteristic and why? ➍ What has been your most memorable academic experience and how did you handle this situation? ➎ Why are you the most qualifed candidate for the Delta Air Lines Aircraft Maintenance Technology Scholarship?
